OnePlus has recently initiated the rollout of a new OxygenOS 13.1.0.581 update for two of its previous flagship smartphone models, namely the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. This incremental update brings some minor enhancements and most importantly, the July 2023 security patch, thereby enhancing the security of these older phones.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Receive OxygenOS 13.1.0.581 Update with July 2023 Security Patch
The OnePlus 8 series was initially introduced by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer in April 2020. Now, both devices are receiving the OxygenOS 13.1.0.581 update. Although this update primarily focuses on stability improvements, it also expands the compatibility of the NFC function, enhancing the overall user experience. Currently, the update seems to be limited to the Indian market. OnePlus advises users facing any bugs or issues to open the Google Dialer and enter “*#800#”. This will grant OnePlus 8 owners access to a menu where they can report any issues they encounter.

When it comes to these devices, they were powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and initially ran on Android 10 OS with OxygenOS 10 pre-installed. The higher-end OnePlus 8 Pro model boasts a tall 6.78-inch Fluid AMOLED display and features a 48-megapixel triple camera setup, while the base variant offers a slightly smaller 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display and the same 48-megapixel triple camera system for photography. Notably, earlier this week, the brand also released a similar OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 9R.
With this latest update, OnePlus is demonstrating its commitment to providing ongoing support and improvements for its older generation flagship devices. By including the July 2023 security patch, OnePlus aims to keep its users protected from potential security vulnerabilities, enhancing the overall user experience. As OnePlus continues to prioritize software updates and device longevity, it strengthens its reputation as a reliable and customer-centric smartphone manufacturer.
