Microsoft is preparing to make an announcement that is set to disappoint gaming enthusiasts in India and other markets worldwide. Reports indicate that the tech giant is planning to raise the prices of its popular Xbox Game Pass subscription service. This move will affect both the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for Console. In addition, Microsoft is also considering increasing the prices of its Xbox Series X console in various countries across the globe.
New Xbox Game Pass Prices in India: What You Need to Know
According to reliable sources, the price hike for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions in India is expected to be around Rs 50. As of July 6, the monthly cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will rise to Rs 549 from Rs 499, while the Xbox Game Pass for Console will see an increase to Rs 379 from Rs 349. However, it’s important to note that these changes will only apply to new subscribers. Existing monthly subscribers will experience the new prices from August 13, and annual subscribers will not be affected until their renewal dates.
In light of the impending price hike, it is advisable for interested individuals to consider opting for an annual plan before the changes take effect. By doing so, gamers can save money and avoid the increased costs associated with the new subscription fees.
For those unfamiliar with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it is a subscription service that offers access to a vast library of games for both PC and console users. Not only does it provide the latest Xbox Game Studios titles on the day of release, but it also consistently adds new games to its collection. Subscribers also enjoy exclusive discounts and perks, in addition to access to Xbox Live Gold and EA Play.
Meanwhile, PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for Console cater specifically to PC and console gamers, respectively. PC Game Pass subscribers also receive an EA Play subscription as part of their package.
In addition to the Xbox Game Pass price increase, there are rumors of a potential price hike for the Xbox Series X console. While the details have not been officially confirmed, it is expected that the increase will apply to most countries, excluding the United States, Japan, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia. The new pricing, if implemented, is expected to come into effect in August.
Kari Perez, head of communications for Xbox, explained that the price adjustments for consoles reflect the competitive conditions in each market. While the exact price hike remains unknown, industry experts speculate that it may align with the price increase that Sony implemented for the PlayStation 5 last year. Sony raised the prices of both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition by Rs 5,000, although they later reduced the prices in India to match the original launch prices. It’s worth noting that Microsoft does not currently have any plans to increase the price of the Xbox Series S, which underwent its most recent price hike earlier this year.
As gaming enthusiasts eagerly await further updates from Microsoft, it is advisable to stay informed and make informed decisions regarding subscriptions and purchases in order to navigate the changing landscape of gaming costs effectively.
